thankyou cex computer club

Many thanks to the Coffs Ex-Services Computer Club for working toward an event to mark World Software Freedom Day in Coffs Harbour. I am really happy also to have been given the opportunity to speak on the high value and relevance Free software has for our community here in this region. I understand that there would be lots of members there, planning the event, but would this be an inappropriate place to table some ideas and ask questions?

example of tabled idea

I do not want to see Software Freedom Day being about selling crap at stalls but I am interested in the idea of being able to display some colorful stuff, I think it is valuable to represent some of our ideas and presence in physical media. I am prepared to get about $500 dollars worth of stuff (this is not much when you include a few books) from ELX. I have checked that they would be ok with refunding me for what I don't sell and is not damaged. I can, if people think the idea is ok, organise for a couple of volunteers to keep check of the stock and represent. There would not be comprehensive stock, it would not be a market stall and no one benefits from the sale except for the shop where I get it. Do you see value in some physical media people can see? Do you think this is a good way to go about it? What sort of stuff do you think should be available? Here is a suggested list so.
